Halloween is always a fun day for the pups…. mostly because they bark at anything that moves…. In an effort to make the dogs less threatening (and because ‘re crazy weimaraner owners), we dress them up in costumes and sit in the driveway to pass out candy. Below is a compilation of some of the costumes throughout the years.
Tobey the Shark
Lili the Mermaid
Lili the BumbleBee

I haven’t done this for a while so I want to post some random pictures of my Weimaraners, Tobey (gray) and Lillian (blue).
The first picture is for Nosember. This totally caused me to be late for work. Tobey laid on my leg and Lili came to join him.
The second picture is of Tobey. He turned 8 last Saturday and to celebrate, my wife baked some homemade treats. I gave both weims one as they came in from outside. Lili came inside first and could have devoured hers with a straw. Once Tobey came in, I gave him his treat but he didn’t eat it. He kept it in his mouth for about 10 minutes. I think he was treating it like a treasure. I managed to snap the picture below of him with the treat still in his mouth. Eventually, I made him drop the treat and he finally ate it. It was one of the funniest things I’ve seen.
The last picture was taken tonight (Thanksgiving). Tobey is sleeping on the couch and Lillian is snuggled in a blanket laying on her big brother and best friend. Both pups are incredibly happy.

I was going through my blog dashboard tonight and stumbled across this article that I wrote a few months ago but never published. It’s a little rough, but enjoy.
I have the greatest two dogs known to man. Without Tobey, my life wouldn’t be as rich. I wouldn’t have a dedicated running companion and friend, and more importantly, I wouldn’t have met my wife. For those that don’t know the story, we met at the Alum Creek Dog Park during Pupapolooza because she had a weimaraner puppy named Lillian and I had Tobey. We started talking and the next thing we knew, we had a play-date set up and the rest is history.
The problem with the dogs is that they put on a magnificent facade by acting incredibly sweet and innocent while secretly being cold-blooded killers (especially the Blue (Lillian)). Take a look at the pictures below and try to say they aren’t some of the sweetest dogs you’ve ever seen….
As sweet as they are, the pups are still incredibly protective and territorial. So far this year, Lillian has a squirrel and multiple birds under her belt. In his lifetime, Tobey has tree’d multiple cats, chased many many deer, and also has a few birds and field mice on his resume. Their crowning achievement was a groundhog that they combined to kill two days before our wedding. I can say without question, this was the worst wedding present we received.
Tobey after killing a bird… admiring his work
As I mentioned…. worst wedding present ever
As much as I love the dogs, my only wish is that they could dispose of their prey far far away from the house.
My fiancee’ and I recently had an engagement session with our photographer Britt Lakin of Britt Lakin Photography. Since the weimaraners are what brought us together (we met at Alum Creek Dog Park), we thought it would be a good idea to start the session with the dogs. In the end, it didn’t work out as well as we expected because both of our dogs refuse to listen but Britt still managed to get some great pictures. As a reminder, Tobey is the Gray and Lillian is the Blue.
Also, quick update on Tobey after his surgery to remove seven tumors (All non-cancerous!)… he had his final set of staples removed on Tuesday so he is now clear to go through metal detectors and is doing well overall.
This picture fully captures why the engagement
session was difficult with the weims
